Leeds 3 – 3 Liverpool

Liverpool were denied the chance to move fifth in the Premier League as substitute Ao Tanaka’s 96th-minute equaliser sealed a 3-3 draw for Leeds United at Elland Road.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has fallen short of the seven points Jamie Carragher said he needed against West Ham, Sunderland and Leeds to save his job, taking just five from those three games.

Dominik Szoboszlai had made it 3-2 to Liverpool with 10 minutes to spare after Leeds fought back from 2-0 down in an enthralling, six-goal half following Hugo Ekitike’s quickfire double after the restart.

Dominik Szoboszlai restores Liverpool’s lead at Leeds with a fine finish

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate handed Leeds their route back into the game after his rash challenge on substitute Wilfried Gnonto saw the hosts given a penalty following an on-field review by Anthony Taylor.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, scoring his third goal in three games, halved the deficit from the spot before Liverpool crumbled to allow Anton Stach to equalise.

Szboboszlai kept his cool to score what he thought was the winner, only for Leeds to strike at the death as Tanaka scored an equaliser deep in stoppage time from a corner to move Daniel Farke’s side three points clear of the relegation zone.
